We stayed for a while in Catalina State park while we got some visiting in with Joe and Dad. We spent a very enjoyable day at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and another at the Pima Air and Space museum.
We even watched Avitar 3D on rainy afternoon.
Mid February, we had planned to ride another long section of the Arizona Trail in the company of Joe and Mark and Mark's family. Unfortunately just days before the trip a number of things got in the way for all of us (Joe had a death in the family, Mark couldn't get flights, and my work started pestering me). On February 11 we drove south of Tuscon to Gardiner Canyon in the Santa Rita mountains. We based out of there day riding sections of the Arizona trail and else where. Joe and Dad made it out for the week end and we all had a great time. Dad drove down again the next Tuesday and he and I had a very enjoyable hike by ourselves all day.
Tandy lost a shoe in Gardiner Canyon. The farrier that came out recommended the Canello hills south of Sonoita, so we headed that way. It turned out to be a very pleasant riding area. One of the most surprising thing was how courteous the ATV'ers were. We had been accustomed to them terring by without a thought for horses in other OHV areas. Here they all stopped their machines, turned of the engines and waited for us to go by.

We sold Musica today for $1700. Even if we did do another horse winter it was time for me to move on to a little hotter horse but she was strong, had a good mind and a good heart. She will be missed.

Several parties at Catalina State Park had enjoyed Wickenburg so we moved camp out there today. Their is a great camping site call Sophie's flats north of town on BLM land. There is lots of space for horse camping and many trails heading off in all directions.
We met a fun couple, Steve and Janet and have gone on several rides with them. We have also been dropping the price on the last two horses like mad. The only potential buyer that has shown much interest didn't look particularly suitable. The pricing is getting down to where it is mostly about finding a good home for the horses now.
